1993 - 2001 Darren is one of the founder members
of the club and was joint first team manager with Joe Bondi through the club's early successful
years. He was instrumental in four league and cup doubles through 1993-1996 including the great
Junior Cup triumph of 1996 and as a player in the 5-a-side county win the same year. He moved to
reserve team manager in 1999 working with Gerry Brislin to bring on the young players from the
sports centre. He was a guide to these young players, taking them through their first two seasons
of senior football and then handed over to Gerry at the start of the 2000/01 season.
2001 / 02 Darren helped his partner Debbie Smith with all
aspects of the clubs administration, working with the club to ensure sponsors were found for each
new season. He also helped Matt O'Dea to run the first team.
2002 / 03 Darren took on the job of Secretary as Debbie was expecting their
second child. In January 2003 he decided as Secretary to fold the Reserves for financial reasons.
This caused a massive argument with Gerry Brislin and the two fell out. Other players expressed
their surprise at the actions taken by Darren and he struggled to put over his views about the whole
incident. 2003 / 04 Darren was asked to step down from
secretarial duties in March 2003 and become an Honorary chairman. He didn't have a lot to do with
the club, instead welcoming his second child into the world.
2004 / 05
Darren gave up all his duties with the club, he will be sorely missed by some!
