1993 - 2000
Gerry is one of the founder members of the club and it was from his
5 a side leagues at the John Warner Sports Centre that all the founder members of the club joined
the McMullen's league in September of 1993. He was secretary, treasurer and physio for the club
for the first five years, winning Clubman honours for the first four and was instrumental in many of
the great victories that the club enjoyed early on.
2000 / 01
His duties changed somewhat when he took over the reserves' team bringing many young
players from the 5 a side leagues and taking them to their first cup final which they unfortunately
lost.
2001 / 02
He took the reserves' up another notch
taking them to two losing finals but secured the biggest trophy of all, winning the Division 3
league title by 3 clear points.
2002 / 03
Gerry
returned for a record equalling 10th season and signed yet more players to further strengthen his
squad and the club as a whole. He was also instrumental in helping the John Warner Youth U16's team
secure a place in Division 3, giving the club three teams for the first time in its history. In
January of 2003, Gerry had a massive row with long time friend Darren Rowley over the later's
decision to fold the reserves' due to financial problems over the whole club. Gerry was so angered
by this decision that he chose to refuse a position as 'A' team assistant manager and also a place
alongside Barry Walpole as 1st team assistant manager.
2003 / 04
Gerry was persuaded by Barry Walpole and Sav Ferro to reverse his decision and help set
up the first team for the start of the season. He remained with the team throughout helping Bazza
keep through a tough season, which the team did very well to finish in fifth place.
2004 / 05
Gerry came back for a second season helping Barry
Walpole run the 1st team. It was an up and down season, with some very good results followed by some pretty
poor one's. But the 1st team managed to reach the semi finals of the Jubilee Cup and the final of the Premier
Divisional Cup. There were no trophies, but the team stayed in the Premier, so job done.
2005 / 06
Gerry helped Sav as much as he could with the 1st team
through to about January, and even though he turned up weekly to run the line he did not have so much input with the
team. In March of this season he celebrated the birth of his first daughter and handed over the job of Assistant 1st
Team Manager to Sharpo.
2006 - 2008
Gerry has given up his duties as 1st Team Assistant Manager
after the birth of his first child, but will continue to attend committee meetings and run the website.
