Gamesmanship and making
the opposition uncomfortable has always been a part of the game, even at the top level. But what
one bright spark got up to in the 1998/99 season surpassed all that had gone before.
A 'Warner'
player ( un-named ) brought along a smoke bomb and was showing it off before the game. That was okay
until another un-named player grabbed it and lit it up, he then proceeded to throw it into the
visitors dressing room, pulling the door shut and wedging his foot against it.
After 30 seconds he
let the team out coughing and spluttering, unfortunately the last one out was the referee who'd been
changing in the same room!!
As you can imagine the club were fined heavily, and this fine was
passed onto the two players, £50 each!!
