1995 - 1998 Spencer joined the club the year
the first team won the Junior Cup in 1996 and immediately found himself playing up front for the
reserves, his goal scoring consistency was such that he kept this position for the next three
seasons. 1998 / 99 He was promoted to the first team
after the club folded its reserves, but still kept up his formidable scoring record and secured
three honours at the clubs presentation evening at the end of the season. He won the Golden Boot
award, the Player's Player award and the Man of the Match award, capping the best season of his
career by far. 1999 / 00 He helped the club win
Division Two league and cup double honours and with it promotion to Division One.
2000 / 01 His formidable right boot helped the first
team through to the Division One cup final against firm favourites Knebworth, and after two fine
goals celebrated a fine 3-1 win adding another trophy to his already impressive collection. He
also won 1st Team Golden Boot again at the 2001 presentation evening.
2001 / 02 Spencer was again part of the 1st team that won Division 1 League &
cup double honours, earning promotion to the Premier league. He made twenty two appearances with
four as sub, scoring ten goals to come second in the Golden Boot.
2002 / 03 Spencer made twelve appearances for the 1st team, two as sub. He
scored just the one goal for the team after struggling to find a permanent place up front and was
then suspended for the rest of the season in February. 2003 / 04
Spencer was suspended for the start of the season, but he still made eighteen
appearances for the Reserves, all starting. He also made nine appearances for the 1st team, two
as a sub. He scored ten goals for the Reserves, four in one game and a brace in another to finish
second in the Golden Boot table, plus he scored five goals for the 1st team to finish third in that
table. He also received a Reserve team high five 1st place, one 2nd place and one 3rd place M.O.M.
award to finish third in the table, plus he received two 1st place, two 2nd place and one 3rd place
M.O.M. award to finish third in the 1st team table. |
